Dambai (O/R), May 2, GNA – Mr Matthew Nyindam, the Member of Parliament (MP) of Kpandai Constituency, has distributed 176 sewing machines and hairdryers to newly trained seamstresses and hairdressers in the constituency as part of efforts to promote youth employment and entrepreneurship.
The beneficiaries, who completed their vocational training in 2025, received the equipment at a ceremony attended by local leaders, party supporters, and residents.
Mr Nyindam said the intervention was aimed at helping the graduates transition from training into productive self-employment and reducing unemployment among the youth.
He described vocational and technical skills development as critical to tackling joblessness and poverty, stressing that start-up equipment remained one of the biggest barriers facing many graduates seeking to establish businesses.
“This support is to help you begin work immediately and become economically independent. Use these tools wisely to build sustainable businesses and support your communities,” he added.
The MP reaffirmed his commitment to expanding youth empowerment and skills development initiatives across the constituency to improve livelihoods and stimulate local economic growth.
Beneficiaries described the gesture as timely and impactful, saying the equipment would have been difficult to acquire without external support.
They pledged to utilise the machines productively to establish businesses and create jobs for others.
The intervention is expected to strengthen micro-enterprises in the constituency and expand employment opportunities within the local economy.
