Kadjebi (O/R), Aug. 27, GNA – Mr Reuben Kemavor, the Kadjebi District Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), has declared his intention to contest the Akan Constituency Treasurer position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Mr Kemavor said his decision to contest was driven by his desire to promote prudent financial management, transparency and accountability in the administration of the Constituency’s finances.
He disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Kadjebi in the Oti Region.
He said, if elected, he would ensure regular financial reporting to Constituency executives, including branch executives, to enable them to know the financial position of the Constituency.
According to him, such an approach would promote transparency and prevent misinformation and rumours about the financial affairs of the Constituency.
“I will render accounts to the Constituency executives, including branch executives, so that they will know the financial strength of the Constituency, and this will help eliminate rumour-mongering,” he said.
Mr Kemavor, who is also an aide to the Akan Member of Parliament (MP), Mr Yao Gomado, said he would operate an inclusive administration and work closely with all stakeholders to promote unity and development within the Constituency.
He said the strength of the NDC lay at the grassroots, stressing that branch executives would therefore play a critical role in his administration if given the mandate.
“Work is at the grassroots, so branch executives will be key in my administration,” he added.
Mr Kemavor said he would work with the Constituency executives to mobilise the necessary resources to support party activities and strengthen the structures of the NDC at the grassroots.
He further pledged to promote teamwork among the Constituency executives and members, saying that unity was essential for the effective organisation and growth of the party.
He urged delegates to consider his experience, commitment and vision for transparent financial management when deciding who should occupy the Treasurer position.
Mr Kemavor is contesting the position against the incumbent Treasurer, Mr Daniel Ofori, and Mr Cyril Eclumor, a Kadjebi-based mobile money (MoMo) vendor.
The NDC is expected to elect its Constituency Executives in October.
The Treasurer position is expected to play a key role in the mobilisation, management and accountability of financial resources to support the activities of the party at the Constituency level.
