Dzodze (V/R), May 02, GNA – The Ketu North Municipal Assembly has received 50 laptops under the government’s One Million Coders Programme to support digital skills training and expand access to technology among young people in the municipality.

The laptops form part of a consignment of 900 laptops and accessories received last week by the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) from the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) and the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations for onward distribution to Municipal and District Assemblies (MDAs) in the Volta Region.

The equipment is to support the rollout of the One Million Coders Programme for beneficiaries across the region.

Receiving the laptops on behalf of the Ketu North Municipal Assembly, Rev Martin Amenaki, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), described the allocation as a major step towards expanding digital access and equipping the youth with practical coding and technology skills.

He said the intervention would help position young people in the municipality for opportunities in the digital economy and contribute to building a competitive and future-ready workforce.

Rev Amenaki said Ketu North was fully prepared to implement the initiative effectively and ensure the resources were used for their intended purpose.

“With the right structures, training support and local commitment in place, we are ready to ensure these laptops translate into real skills, innovation and employment opportunities for our youth,” he said.

He said the Assembly would work to ensure effective deployment of the laptops and proper coordination of the training programme to maximise impact on beneficiaries.

Rev Amenaki noted that the initiative aligned with broader efforts to bridge the digital divide, promote youth empowerment, and improve access to technology-driven opportunities in the municipality.

He said the programme marked a deliberate and sustainable step towards closing the digital gap and preparing the youth for the demands of the modern economy.

The MCE expressed appreciation to Mr Samuel Nartey George, Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, and President John Dramani Mahama for their leadership and commitment to digital inclusion and youth development.

He said their continued support was creating meaningful opportunities for young people and driving long-term socio-economic transformation in communities across the country.
