Drobo, (Bono), May 8, GNA – Madam Siata Watara, the Jaman South Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) has called on the chiefs and people of the region to bury their differences, forge ahead in unity and push the holistic development of the municipality.
“We must work together towards building a community where children can pursue their dreams and where businesses can thrive”, she advised.
Mad Watara said peace remained prerequisite for development, saying that collective determination was required by the people to accelerate progressive and sustainable development.
The MCE gave the advice when speaking at a forum on the “Accounting to the people series” at Drobo, the municipal capital when Mr Joseph Addae Akwaboa, the Bono Regional Minister extended his tour to the region to the municipality.
The forum forms part of government efforts to promote transparency, participatory governance, and responsive leadership at the local level.
Mad Watara told the people that: “We are affirming our commitment to integrity by standing before you today. Today the government isn’t a distant entity, but a partner in your daily lives”, saying that accountability and transparency remained the heartbeat of effective local governance.
She explained that the event was not merely presenting figures, but to demonstrate how public taxes, levies and shared resources were being utilized for tangible development projects across the municipality.
Mad Watara added that trust remained essential in governance, and that accountability and transparency were critical in sustaining public confidence in leadership and public institutions.
She highlighted some achievements chalked by the Assembly in security, finance and revenue management, as well as social and economic development and waste management, saying that several development projects in the road, health and education sector were on-going across the municipality.
Earlier, Mr and Mad Watara inspected the progress of work on a number of ongoing development projects in the Municipality.
At the TSC Technical Institute at Drobo-Gunasua, Mr Akwaboa assured the completion of the construction of a dormitory block and urged the students to study hard.
He noted that Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) provided ready jobs and advised the students to take advantage of and be serious with their employable skills training.
