Wenchi, (Bono), May 8, GNA – A total of four pregnant girls and four nursing mothers have defied odds, writing the on-going Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region.

Mr David Baffoe, the Public Relations Officer at the Wenchi Municipal Directorate of Education disclosed this to the media, saying that 11 of the candidates comprising seven males and four females did not turn up for examination.

He explained that two of the absentees (females) traveled abroad after registering the BECE, saying that one of them (male) was not well.

The other absentee could not write the exams because the candidate had double index numbers, he explained.

Mr Baffoe said a total of 205 candidates of Complementary Basic Education (CBET) in the municipality were also participating in the BECE and wished all the candidates a successful exam.

He said so far, the conduct of the BECE in the Municipality had been successful in all the 10 centers in the municipality.
