Christians urged to be living testimonies of Jesus Christ

By Emmanuel Nyatsikor

Klefe (V/R), May 25, GNA –The Reverend Richard Mawutor Buamah, Klefe District Pastor of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, has advised Christians to live as true witnesses of Jesus Christ in their daily lives.

He said believers must reflect the love, truth and holiness of the Holy Spirit in their conduct to positively impact society.

Rev Buamah gave the advice during a sermon at the Salem Chapel of the Church at Klefe on Sunday, May 24, to mark the day of Pentecost, which commemorates 50 day after the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the pouring of the Holy Spirit on believers.

Preaching on the theme: “Empowered by the Spirit for God’s Mission,” he urged Christians to open their hearts for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

According to him, the Holy Spirit empowers believers to rise above division, fear, complacency, competition and sin.

“It is only the Holy Spirit that can make the Church and for that matter Christians the true light of the world,” he noted.

Rev Buamah noted that the presence of Christ-filled believers should make communities safer, cleaner and more united.

“Our homes, workplaces and communities should experience peace and honesty because believers are living out their faith,” he stated.

He reminded the congregation that the peace of Jesus Christ remained the source of courage in times of hardship, economic uncertainty and social pressure.

Rev Buamah cautioned Christians against relying on wealth, political influence and human connections, urging them instead to place their trust in God.

He said the celebration of Pentecost should remind Christians that true transformation comes through the Holy Spirit.

The Reverend Minister called on believers to be peacemakers in their families, promoters of justice and models of integrity in leadership.

He added that Pentecost symbolised mission, reconciliation, healing, love, truth, faithfulness and honesty.

Rev Buamah encouraged Christians to use their talents, resources and influence for the benefit of society, and to protect public property while living responsible lives.

He further urged the Church not to neglect its social responsibilities, especially the welfare of the vulnerable, in its pursuit of spiritual growth.

He advised Christians to avoid selfish ambitions and strive to be a blessing to others.
