Western Region ISD receives three information vans

By Emmanuel Gamson

Sekondi (W/R), April 21, GNA – Mr Joseph Nelson, the Western Regional Minister, has handed over three outdoor broadcast vans to the Western Regional Office of the Information Services Department (ISD) to enhance its operational efficiency.

The presentation, made at a brief ceremony in Sekondi, forms part of efforts to bridge the information gap between government and the citizenry, particularly in hard-to-reach communities.

Mr Nelson said the initiative was also aimed at revitalising public communication across the region to ensure timely and accurate dissemination of government policies and programmes.

He urged the ISD to use the vans strictly for their intended purpose.

“I do not want to hear stories of these vehicles being parked under trees or turned into school vans by the roadside,” he cautioned.

Mr Nelson further stressed that the vehicles were not meant for errands, funerals or private use, but for conveying vital information to the region’s most deprived and remote communities.

Receiving the vehicles on behalf of the department, Mr Thomas Tabiri, the Western Regional Director of the ISD, expressed gratitude to the Regional Minister for the gesture.

He said the vans would significantly improve the department’s outreach activities and enable it to extend its services to hard-to-reach areas.

Mr Tabiri indicated that the vehicles would be deployed across three major zones – the northern belt, the coastal corridor and mining-impacted districts – where rumours often spread faster than official information.
