Sefwi Asafo (WN/R), March 03, GNA – Some residents of Sefwi Asafo and Dwenase communities in the Western North Region have welcomed the government’s decision to commence the construction of a new regional hospital for them.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), some nursing trainees at the College of Health said the decision was a welcoming news, stating that the facility when constructed would help improve upon healthcare delivery in the area.
They added that it would also give employment opportunities to the teeming youth pursuing health related courses in the region.
Others also said a new regional hospital would bring more qualified health professionals in the region for effective healthcare delivery system.
Colonel (Rtd) Anthony Aduhene, President of Solidarity Movement of Western North, a group dedicated to the creation of the Western North Region, commended the government for its decision, saying the move would help enhance the healthcare delivery in the region and help improve upon the wellbeing of residents.
“A regional hospital in Western North will help prevent avoidable deaths since our people will no longer travel to other regions for medical care because more specialists will be based here to render quality services to residents,” he added.
President John Dramani Mahama on Friday, February 27, during his second State of the Nation Address announced plans to commence the construction of new regional hospitals in Western North, Oti, and Savannah regions.
