Abesim, (Bono), Aug 28, GNA – Mr Kinsley Kusi Appiah, the Assembly Member for the Abesim Ankobea Electoral Area in the Sunyani Municipality, has called for support towards the rehabilitation of the dilapidated Ankrana River Bridge in the area.

He said the bridge required urgent repair works, worrying that its present condition was a death trap to especially women farmers and school children who crossed the river every day.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Abesim, Mr Appiah noted that new settlements had sprang up, saying that the residents now find it difficult to cross the bridge.

He said the rains had worsened the condition of the bridge, saying that if nothing was done immediately, something disastrous could happen.

Mr Appiah said he had officially informed authorities at the Sunyani Municipal Assembly, however, there had not been any positive response.

He appealed to wealthy citizens of the area, non-government organisations, corporate bodies, faith-based and philanthropic organisations for assistance.
