Dambai (O/R), March 13, GNA – Mr Haruna Karim, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Kpandai, has cut sod for the construction of a modern Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound for residents of Wuyumbo.
The project aims to improve access to healthcare services for residents of the community and surrounding areas.
At the sod-cutting ceremony, Mr Karim said the initiative was prompted by the difficulties residents face in accessing healthcare.
He said pregnant women, children, and the elderly currently travelled about five kilometres to Kpandai to seek medical care.
Mr Karim explained that the situation places a significant burden on vulnerable groups in the community, making it necessary to bring healthcare services closer to the people.
The CHPS compound would include a fully equipped health facility, accommodation for nurses, toilet and bathroom facilities to support effective healthcare delivery.
Mr Karim urged residents of Wuyumbo to cooperate with the contractor to ensure the timely completion of the project.
He also encouraged the contractor to engage skilled members of the community in the construction process, to create employment opportunities for locals.
Some women in the community expressed joy and gratitude to the DCE and government for the long-awaited intervention that would significantly improve healthcare access for residents.
The community members assured the district authorities of their support and cooperation to ensure the successful completion of the project.
Mr Karim also disclosed that the project engineer for the Kpandai–Salaga Road was currently assessing the condition of the road and assured residents that once the assessment was completed, the contractor would return to site to continue work on the project.
