Imam Yusif Urges Muslims to Sustain Ramadan Spirit Beyond Fasting

By Kingsley Mamore

Dambai (O/R), March 20, GNA – The Muslim community in Dambai has been urged to sustain the spiritual discipline observed during Ramadan beyond the fasting period.

Imam Zakaria Yusif of the Ahlussana Wal-JamaAh Mosque made the call in a sermon (khutbah) delivered after Eid al-Fitr prayers.

He emphasised that Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, should not signal the end of righteous living, but rather inspire Muslims to uphold the values and principles that guided them throughout the fasting period.

“During Ramadan, we refrain from insults and avoid actions that lead to sin. We must continue to live by the same faith and discipline,” he said.

Imam Yusif noted that Ramadan was not merely a period of abstinence from food and drink, but a time to strengthen one’s relationship with Allah and cultivate noble character.

He urged the faithful to sustain the spirit of compassion, forgiveness, and self-discipline that defined their Ramadan experience.

The message resonated with the congregation gathered at Dambai Lapaz Park to mark the occasion. Leading the prayers, the Imam reminded worshippers that the true essence of Ramadan lies in its lasting impact on their daily lives.

Nana Kwaku Beyennor II, Chief of Dambai, together with his linguists, also urged the Muslim community to continue to live in peace and unity.

The Krachi East Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Safo Nketia, attended the celebration with a delegation from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He stressed that peace remained a prerequisite for development, noting that without it, meaningful progress in the municipality would be difficult to achieve.

As the celebrations drew to a close, members of the Muslim community reaffirmed their commitment to living by the values of Ramadan throughout the year, expressing hope for a more peaceful and united future.
