Interior sector gains from digitisation, inter-agency collaboration

Accra, Feb. 10, GNA – Mr. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, Minister for the Interior, has stated that the sector is witnessing enhanced collaboration, digitisation, and improved emergency response mechanisms.

He acknowledged, however, that challenges persist, particularly regarding evolving crime trends, border security concerns, and growing public scrutiny over accountability and human rights issues.

The Minister made these comments during the opening of the Ministry’s 2025 Annual Performance Review Workshop, held in Ada.

The event, under the theme “Strengthening Security Governance, Accountability, and Service Delivery through Performance Review and Strategic Alignment,” served as a platform for the Ministry and its agencies to assess their performance, identify gaps, and set priorities for 2026 and beyond.

Mr. Mohammed-Mubarak urged Heads of Agencies to approach the review process with transparency and a sense of ownership.

He emphasised the importance of using the review to strengthen alignment across agencies and reaffirm their commitment to delivering services that inspire public confidence and contribute to national development.

Madam Doreen Annan, Chief Director of the Ministry, described the workshop as “a solution-driven engagement, rather than a fault-finding exercise.”

She noted that the forum was designed to foster institutional learning, improve coordination, and enhance the overall effectiveness of the sector.

The workshop, held at the Aqua Safari Resort in Ada, brought together the Deputy Minister, Chief Director, Heads of Agencies, and senior officers to review the Ministry’s performance and chart a clear path forward.
