Dambai (O/R), Feb. 10, GNA – Personnel of the Ghana Police Service stationed at the Dambai barrier in the Oti Region have intercepted a long trailer truck reportedly carrying substances labelled as Indian hemp.

The truck, with registration number GW 1943-09, was suspected to be transporting parcels of dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

A Ghana News Agency (GNA) reporter observed Lance Corporal Kwame Boateng, Corporal Emmanuel Adjei and Lance Corporal Iddi Baba interrogating the driver and his mate after the discovery of the suspected narcotics concealed within the vehicle’s frame.

In a dramatic turn of events, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled into a nearby bush, leaving behind his mate, who was subsequently arrested to assist police investigations.

In a related development, police in Nkwanta foiled another suspected drug trafficking attempt involving a Volvo truck.
