By Edward Williams, GNA

Hohoe (V/R), Feb. 6, GNA – The Hohoe Municipal Assembly is set to drill five high-yielding boreholes to augment water supply in the Municipality.

The Assembly had already taken delivery of equipment to support and kick-start the project.

Mr Prosper Kumi, Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) briefing the media, said the drilling of the boreholes would initially begin at five out of the six identified areas.

He said the project aimed at increasing water supply to the township through the distribution channels of the Ghana Water Limited.

Mr Kumi said the project, if completed, would target one million gallons of water generation per day for onward distribution to customers.

He said if successful, water supply in the Municipal could last for 16 hours per day to help tackle issues of inadequate access to water in the Municipality.

Mr Kumi said the plans put in place to increase water generation from Kpando to enable the Municipality to address its water challenges had not been abandoned.

He commended the staff of the Assembly and the Member of Parliament for Hohoe, Mr Thomas Worlanyo Tsekpo, for their support in addressing the water challenge facing Hohoe.
