Accra, July 08, GNA –The MTN Ghana has refurbished 3,888 hospital beds and accessories across seven health facilities nationwide while rolling out health screening and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) programmes as part of its 2026, 21 Days of Y’ello Care campaign.
The nationwide intervention, undertaken in partnership with the DOSH Foundation and the Sika Pɛ Adwuma Company Limited, forms part of activities marking MTN Ghana’s 30th anniversary of operations in the country.
A statement issued in Accra said the initiative was expected to improve healthcare delivery for thousands of patients by enhancing patient comfort, easing pressure on healthcare workers and supporting national efforts to address Ghana’s persistent no-bed syndrome.
It said the refurbished equipment included faulty hospital beds, ward screens, drip stands, metallic cabinets and three-in-one patient chairs, which were restored by MTN employee volunteers and handed back to the beneficiary health facilities to extend their operational lifespan.

Mrs. Adwoa Wiafe the, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer of MTN Ghana, said the initiative reflected the company’s commitment to ensuring that its 30 years of operations translated into meaningful improvements in the lives of Ghanaians.
She said the company deliberately designed this year’s Y’ello Care programme around addressing critical healthcare challenges, particularly the no-bed syndrome confronting many health facilities.
Mrs. Wiafe said although MTN had initially targeted refurbishing 3,000 hospital beds and accessories, the dedication of employee volunteers and the technical expertise of Sika Pɛ Adwuma Company Limited enabled the company to exceed the target by refurbishing 3,888 hospital beds and accessories.
She said the campaign also focused on preventive healthcare through hygiene education in schools, community health outreaches and support for patients unable to settle their medical bills.
Mrs. Wiafe disclosed that volunteers installed 30 handwashing facilities in 16 schools across the country, reaching more than 15,000 pupils with hygiene education, while health outreaches were organised in 16 communities.
“Through the partnership with the DOSH Foundation, 70 patients received financial assistance to offset their medical bills and were each enrolled onto a health insurance package valued at GH¢9,000,” she added.
Dr Jackline Anita Sowah, the Medical Superintendent of Achimota Hospital described the intervention as timely, saying it would improve patient comfort, strengthen service delivery, reduce pressure on healthcare resources and contribute to addressing the country’s no-bed syndrome.
She expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana, Sika Pɛ Adwuma Company Limited and the DOSH Foundation for the intervention, which formed part of MTN Ghana’s flagship employee volunteerism programme, the 21 Days of Y’ello Care, organised this year under the theme: “Expand Equitable Health for Every Community.”
