Ho (V/R), July 8, GNA – The Ho Municipal Assembly has assigned public institutions, security agencies, educational institutions and religious organisations to designated locations across the municipality as part of a two-day nationwide sanitation campaign scheduled for Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, 2026.

The exercise, which will be held from 0600 hours to 1000 hours on both days, follows a directive from the Office of the President for a nationwide massive clean-up exercise aimed at improving environmental sanitation, safeguarding public health and reducing the risk of flooding.

A statement signed by Mr Henry Yao Amesimeku, the Ho Municipal Coordinating Director, urged all residents, including students, to participate actively in the exercise.

Residents in communities outside the Ho township were advised to follow announcements by their chiefs, Assembly Members and community information centres regarding designated assembly points.

The statement said all churches, government institutions, Senior High Schools and tertiary institutions, except those assigned to special locations, were expected to undertake weeding, sweeping, clearing of refuse and debris, and desilting of drains within their respective operational areas.

Major clean-up activities will focus on stormwater drains from Tsiyikpota to Ape-Lotto’s Residence, Amegashie Bridge through Anlokordzi to Sonrise School and Housing Bridge, the Jerry Art area through Togbe Afede’s Palace to the YMCA and Anlokordzi, as well as all markets and lorry stations in the municipality.

The Assembly assigned the Ghana Prisons Service, Ho, to clean the Ring Road from the Prisons Barracks to the Regional Residency, while Wallas Academy will clear the median from Bankoe to Lokoe.

The Volta Regional Police Training School will clean the stretch from the Police Training School to the GCB Market Branch, while Ho Technical University will undertake sanitation activities from the HTU Junction through Volta Vicharles to the SSNIT Flats Junction.

The University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) has been assigned the area from the UHAS Roundabout to the Diamond Street Junction, while the Women Development Vocational School at Lokoe will clear the median from Lokoe to the UHAS Roundabout.

The Sokode Senior High School will undertake clean-up activities from SOSTECH to the Gborgame Roundabout, while staff of the Ho Municipal Assembly will clear the median from the UHAS Roundabout to SOSTECH.

The statement directed also all public and private basic and junior high schools to organise sanitation exercises within their school compounds and surrounding communities.

In addition, the Assembly will dredge the stormwater drain from the Military Barracks to the Ho Polyclinic to improve water flow and minimise flooding during the rainy season.

The Assembly appealed to residents, institutions and community leaders to support the exercise, stressing that environmental sanitation remained a shared responsibility.

It urged the public to work together to keep Ho clean, green and healthy for all.
