Kadjebi (O/R), July 08, GNA – Mr Innocent Komla Gavua, the Kadjebi District Coordinating Director, has urged residents of Kadjebi in the Oti Region to actively participate in community clean-up exercises to promote environmental sanitation and help prevent the outbreak of diseases.
The appeal was contained in a release issued by the Kadjebi District Assembly and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA).
According to the release, the clean-up exercise is scheduled for Thursday, July 9, and will cover the Kadjebi township, including the premises of the Kadjebi District Assembly.
Mr Gavua called on residents, traders, transport operators, artisans, institutions and other stakeholders to fully support the exercise by cleaning their homes, workplaces, markets, drains and other public spaces.
He said maintaining clean surroundings was a shared responsibility and remained one of the most effective ways of preventing sanitation-related diseases such as cholera, diarrhoea and malaria.
The District Coordinating Director encouraged residents to clear choked drains, remove refuse from their surroundings, desilt gutters and eliminate stagnant water that serves as breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
He stressed that a clean environment contributes to improved public health, enhances the beauty of the township and promotes sustainable community development.
Mr Gavua appealed to all residents to set aside their daily activities for the exercise and work collectively towards making Kadjebi a cleaner and healthier place for all.
He expressed the Assembly’s commitment to promoting good sanitation practices and urged the public to sustain cleanliness beyond the exercise by adopting proper waste management and environmental hygiene practices.
