Tamale, Dec. 25, GNA – The Northern Regional Minister, Mr Ali Adolf John, has extended Christmas greetings to Christians in the region, urging them to uphold the values of peace, unity, love and compassion that define the birth of Jesus Christ.
In a Christmas message to residents of the region, including Christians, traditional leaders and opinion leaders, Mr John described Christmas as a sacred season that symbolised humility, sacrifice, hope and goodwill towards humanity.
He encouraged Christians to reflect deeply on the teachings of Christ and allow those values to guide their personal lives as well as their interactions within their communities.
Mr John emphasised that virtues such as compassion, forgiveness, selfless service and unity were essential to building a peaceful, inclusive and prosperous Northern Region and Ghana as a whole.
He called on residents to continue working together in harmony to promote social cohesion and mutual respect across religious and cultural divides.
Acknowledging the region’s diversity and strong communal bonds, the Minister urged residents to recommit themselves to peaceful coexistence and tolerance, stressing that unity and shared responsibility were key to sustaining peace and driving development.
Mr John reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of all residents, highlighting ongoing initiatives and policies aimed at enhancing livelihoods, strengthening social cohesion and promoting sustainable development.
He commended religious leaders for their invaluable contributions to moral guidance, youth development and peacebuilding within communities, noting that their prayers, leadership and counsel continued to play a vital role in maintaining stability and fostering development in the region and the nation.
The Minister encouraged families and communities to celebrate Christmas with gratitude, moderation and care, calling on residents to extend love and support to the less privileged, reach out to the vulnerable and share in the spirit of generosity that defines the season.
