Ayakomaso, (Bono), Dec. 25, GNA – Pastor Christopher Agbeyanfia, the Regional Coordinator of the Middle-belt Zone of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry (DCLM) Ghana has urged Christians to strive against sin by yielding themselves totally to the promptings and dictates of the Holy Spirit of God that dwells in them.Â
He said: “sin remains the problem of the world today”, saying being sensitive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit would empower and enable Christians to overcome sins and its allurements and thereby live Christlike lives.Â
Pastor Agbeyanfia gave the advice when preaching a sermon at the December Retreat of the Deeper Life Bible Church, underway at Ayakomaso, near Nsoatre in the Sunyani West Municipality.Â
More than 1,000 members drawn from various locations of the church, including adults, youth and children, are attending the four-day retreat on the theme: “The great redemption power”.Â
Pastor Agbeyanfia said sin remained the worst enemy of nations that partly caused illnesses, diseases and other infirmities and afflictions, and asked Christians to strive hard and not to allow “sin to reign in their mortal bodies”.Â
“The sin of lies, fighting, fornication, adultery, stealing and others should not reign in our lives and we must do our best to overcome sin every day because that shows that we are truly the sons and daughters of God”, he advised.Â
Nonetheless, Pastor Agbeyanifa added that: “Our victory over sin isn’t by our self-efforts, however, by leaning daily on our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ through persistent prayer
s as well as reading and meditation of the word of God”. He said it would be difficult for Christians to “compromise and sin presumptuously if we stay consistently in reading and meditating the word of God as well as remaining fervent in prayers”.Â
Delivering a separate sermon of the Youth Division of the Church. Pastor Robert Lugushie, asked the youth of the church to build their faith in God and stay away from worldliness and its amusements.Â
He asked them to remain firm and focused, and allow the teachings to shape their lives, hoping that the four-day retreat would impact and transform the lives of the youth.Â
