Fumbisi (U/E), Nov. 13, GNA – The Builsa South District Assembly has handed over five sites to contractors for projects involving the construction of school blocks and Community-Based Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds.
The projects included the construction and furnishing of a Kindergarten (KG) block at Gbedema-Guuta, a CHPS compound at Logvogsa and the construction and furnishing of a three-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at Kanjarga-Piisa.
The rest of the sites are for the construction and furnishing of another three-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at Musidema and the construction and furnishing of a CHPS compound at Banyangsa.
The projects, awarded to three contractors, would be fully funded by the District Assemblies’ Common Fund, and expected to be completed within eight months.
At a ceremony to handover the sites, Madam Anne Musah, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, urged the respective contractors to adhere to timelines and deliver quality work to stand the test of time.
She assured residents of regular monitoring of the projects by the Assembly, to ensure value for money, saying “These projects are a direct response to the needs of our communities as captured in the district’s 2022 to 2025 Medium Term Development Plan.
“By investing in education and healthcare, we are building a stronger foundation for the future of Builsa South,” Madam Musah said.
She emphasised the Assembly’s commitment to equitable development and indicated that the initiative aligned with broader efforts to bridge infrastructure gaps and promote inclusive development in the district.
The DCE further assured residents of transparency in the use of the Common Fund and urged community members to support the contractors to ensure the smooth execution of the projects.
Dr Clement Abas Apaak, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area and Deputy Minister of Education, said the beneficiary communities chose the priority projects themselves devoid of influence from the Assembly.
He called on the chiefs and community members to take ownership of the projects and offer the contractors the needed support to successfully execute them.
He further expressed gratitude to the constituents for giving him the three-term opportunity to represent them in Parliament and pledged his continuous commitment to ensure the development of the constituency.
Some visibly excited constituents told journalists after the handing over ceremony that if the facilities were successfully constructed, quality and access to education and healthcare facilities in the district would be enhanced.
