Bediako, Nov. 13, GNA – The newly commissioned train that commutes from Tema to Afienya in the Greater Accra region knocked down and killed a man identified as Enock Eshun, 18 years old, on Wednesday evening.
The victim was seen lying in a drain after the train hit him from the side at Bediako in the Kpone-Katamanso Municipality.
Some eyewitnesses said the victim had hearing and speech challenges and could not have noticed the train approaching whilst he was walking closer to the rail tracks at about 15:57 hours.
The Ghana News Agency however gathered information that police personnel from the Community 25 police station took the lifeless body to the Tema General Hospital mortuary for preservation.
In another development, a truck driver has been picked up by the Community 25 police for unauthorised parking near the Bediako junction, which poses a serious threat to lives and properties should there be an approaching train.
The truck driver has been granted a police enquiry bail pending an investigation into the issue.
