Obuasi (Ash), June 12, GNA – Mr. William Kofi Adzowu, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Obuasi East, has called on candidates for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to uphold the municipality’s legacy of academic excellence.

He emphasised that Obuasi East has consistently produced outstanding BECE results over the years and urged this year’s candidates to maintain that high standard.

The MCE made these remarks during a tour of BECE centres across the municipality.

He was accompanied by the Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Kwabena Owusu Nketiah, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Eric Aboagye-Mensah, and officials from the Obuasi East Education Directorate.

The tour’s purpose was to observe the conduct of the exams and offer motivation and encouragement to the candidates.

Mr. Adzowu reminded the candidates that the foundation of their future success began with the examination.

He advised them to take the exams seriously and overcome any anxiety associated with it while cautioning them against examination malpractices, stressing that such actions could jeopardise their academic journey.

The Municipal Director of Education expressed confidence in the candidates’ preparedness.

He revealed that the Education Directorate, in collaboration with stakeholders, organised four mock examinations to help the students adequately prepare.

“We are optimistic that this has helped them to familiarise themselves with how the exams could go and are enough to come out with flying colours,” he stated.

Mr. Nketiah also appealed for the establishment of a model school in the municipality, citing it as one of his pressing challenges.

A total of 2,030 candidates are writing the 2025 BECE in the Obuasi East Municipality.

They comprise 961 boys and 1,069 girls, with 1,436 candidates from public schools and 594 from private schools.

The exams are being conducted across eight designated centres within the municipality.
