Nkwanta (O/R), May 4, GNA – A total of 2,040 candidates are participating in the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Nkwanta South Municipality under heightened security to ensure the safety of pupils.

Mr. Joseph Kwame Antwi Awal, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), toured various examination centres across the municipality and advised candidates to refrain from any form of examination malpractice.

He expressed confidence in the preparedness of the candidates, noting that their teachers had adequately equipped them for the examinations.

The MCE urged students to rely on what they had been taught and to conduct themselves with discipline and integrity throughout the examination period.

He also cautioned teachers against offering any form of assistance to candidates during the exams, stressing that strict adherence to examination regulations is essential to safeguarding the credibility of the BECE nationwide.

The heightened security measures follow recent ethnic disturbances in the area.
