Westline, May 4, GNA – Mr. Abdul Majeed Dokurgu, the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Chief Executive in the Western Region, has encouraged the 3,031 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) registered candidates within the municipality to sit up, do their best in order to have good successes at the end of the examination.
He said, “I want to take the opportunity to thank your teachers for the knowledge impacted, this is your time, to show off what you have studied over the last years, don’t be afraid, understand the questions, and answer to the best of your abilities, your dream schools awaits you”.
Mr. Dokurgu said this when he visited and interacted with some of the candidates to mark the official opening of the 2026 BECE in the Municipality.
One hundred invigilators, 10 supervisors and 10 assistant supervisors are helping to regulate the processes for the over 1,200 candidates who gathered and are writing at the Takoradi Senior High School where the MCE and other stakeholders visited.
There are 91 schools, with public schools presenting 1,668 candidates and private schools presenting 1,363 candidates in the municipality.
Madam Gloria Biney-Gontor, the Municipal Director of Education told the candidates that BECE looked like the regular examination they undertake termly for progression on the academic ladder but required a little more preparation and hard work to meet the mark.
She said, “your entry to Senior high education depends so much on this, do your best and we are strongly behind your”.
Mr. Fiifi Buckman, the Member of Parliament for Kwesimintsim urged them to exhibit greater discipline as they wrote the papers to avoid being caught in any examination malpractices.
He also called on the invigilators to correct or reprimand in love and not to put fears in the children.
The students were reminded not to take in foreign materials to the examination halls, calculators or any technology enabled gadget into the halls.
