Winneba (C/R), May 4, GNA – A total of 1,741 students, including 822 females from 25 public and 38 private schools in the Effutu Municipality, are writing the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) at five centres in Winneba.
At Centre “A,” located at the Unipra Basic School on the North Campus of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), 497 students from twelve schools were present and writing the first paper.
At Centres “B” to “E,” also located at the Winneba Senior High School, all 1,244 candidates were present.
The Effutu Municipality has deployed 60 invigilators, six supervisors, five assistant supervisors, two distributors, eight security personnel, and two officials each from the West African Examinations Council and the Ghana Education Service.
Supervisors at the centres informed a visiting team, including Neenyi Ghartey VII, Paramount Chief of the Effutu Traditional Area, that the examinations had so far been smooth.
Other members of the team were Madam Diana Anderson, Effutu Municipal Director of Education, and Alhaji Zubeiru Kassim, former Effutu Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), who represented Mr.
Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Member of Parliament for Effutu and Majority Leader of Parliament. They had earlier encouraged the candidates to remain focused and not panic.
