Takoradi, June 27, GNA – Mr Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, the President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), says the Association has regained its lost glory and taken its rightful position as the fourth estate of the realm under his hardworking administration.
He said: “By the grace of God, today, the GJA we knew years back is not the same under Dwumfour, and the Association has regained it lost respect.”
He said this when he met members of the Western Region GJA, in Takoradi, to rally their support in his bid to seek re-election as the President of the Association for his second term.
Mr Dwumfour stated that his administration had worked tirelessly to make the GJA attractive and powerful, and urged the members to renew his mandate to continue the good works.
“The Association, which was toothless can now bite, today GJA has become powerful, and we now have a voice due to how appealing the GJA has become,” he added.
According to him, no administration had taken keen interest in the fight and defence for press freedom in the country as a core mandate done under his leadership.
The GJA President said: “Under Dwumfour’s administration, we have seen the fight for press freedom intensified, and we have won the fight… you dare not touch a journalist, so now we can all go about our duties without fear or favour.”
Mr Dwumfour said he had been tried, tested, and proven his experience to lead the GJA to even greater heights.
“All we want to tell you is that vote for continuity, a tried and tested leader, and help us to build on the foundation and legacies we have achieved,” he added.
The GJA President was accompanied by other aspirants vying for the Vice President, Public Affairs officer and the organizing secretary positions, who took turns to share their visions and ideas to persuade the Western region GJA members to vote for them.
The national, and regional GJA election is slated for Monday, June 30, 2025 across the country.
