Accra, July 11, GNA – The Lands Commission on Friday, July 10, joined the nationwide post-flood clean-up exercise declared by the Government’s Post-Flood Mitigation Committee on the theme, “Our Actions, Our Future: Cleaning Ghana after the Floods.”
At the Corporate Head Office and the Greater Accra Regional Office, in Accra, staff of the Commission mobilised to desilt drains, clear illegal dumpsites, and dispose of waste in surrounding communities.
Similar activities were replicated across the other 15 regional offices of the Commission, in collaboration with Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies.
Professor Anthony Owusu-Ansah, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, led the clean-up exercise at the Regional Head Office alongside his deputies and management members.
He lauded the staff for their commitment, saying: “We do not only manage land; but we also have a responsibility to protect the environment and public health. Let us keep our environments clean, not just today, but every day.”
Mr Emmanuel Adansi Bonah, Deputy Executive Secretary in charge of Corporate Services, and Madam Anne Brown, Director of Human Resources, toured the Commission’s offices to monitor progress of the exercise.


Mr Bonah urged staff to make cleanliness a lifestyle, noting: “A healthy mind lives in a healthy body. When our surroundings are clean, productivity goes up, and diseases go down.”
Madam Brown emphasised the importance of ensuring civic responsibility, adding: “Cleanliness is next to godliness. This exercise is not just about clearing gutters; it is about saving lives and preventing future flooding.”


Management of the Commission has encouraged all regional, district, and divisional offices to sustain such efforts in partnership with local authorities.
The two-day national exercise continues Saturday, July 11, 2026.
The June 29, 2026, devastating floods affected seven regions claiming more than 30 lives and destroying businesses and properties worth millions of Ghana cedi.
