Ekuase (W/R), June 23, GNA – The Youth Ministry of the Assemblies of God Church, Sekondi District ‘A’, has donated some assorted items to the inmates at the Ekuase Camp Prison in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region.

The items included food packages, packs of bottled water, soft drinks, and Bibles among other supplies.

The Reverend Emmanuel Owusu-Akyaw, the Southern-Western Youth Director, who made the presentation, said the donation was in fulfilment of the word of God to help the less privileged in society.

“Jesus in Matthew 25:35-36 commanded us to reach out to the needy, feed the hungry and cloth the naked, take care of the sick, and visit those in prison and that is what we as a church have fulfilled,” he said.

He noted that it was a necessity for the church to reach out to all, especially those who found themselves on the other side of the law and were imprisoned.

Rev Owusu-Akyaw encouraged the inmates to be in their best behaviour and continue fervent fellowship with the Lord, while believing that when they became free men, the Lord would glorify himself in their lives.

He expressed optimism that the items would put smiles on their faces and gave them the assurance that they still mattered, and that, the church deeply cared for them.

DSP Daniel Baah, Acting Chaplain, Ekuase Camp Prison, who received the items expressed appreciation to the church for extending love to the prisoners.

The items, he said, would go a long way to supplement the service’s efforts in caring for the inmates, and called on other benevolent individuals and organizations to support the prison.

In all 104 inmates were reached out with the gospel through the sharing of the word, prayers, songs of praise, and sharing of Bibles to serve as a reminder of how precious they were to the church and the body of Christ.
