Mahama reiterates commitment to operationalise Anomabo Fisheries College

Cape Coast, Feb 06, GNA – President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his government’s commitment to ensure the completion and operationalisation of the Anomabo Fisheries College in the Central Region.

The construction of the College, which started in 2011 under the late President Professor John Evans Atta Mills and continued during President Mahama’s first term, came to a halt following the exit of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)-led Government on January 7, 2017.

President Mahama and Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang on Thursday jointly inspected the College at Anomabo.

Speaking at mini durbar of the Aburanamoa Community, where the College is cited, President Mahama tasked Madam Emelia Arthur, Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, to collaborate with thefinance ministerr to ensure that the amount required for the completion and operationalisation of the College was captured in the 2025 budget and would be under the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Cape Coast.

He said it would train students in fisheries and carry-out research in the fisheries sector.

President Mahama said his administration would ensure the completion of all projects no matter which Government started because the funds used in starting such projects came from the taxpayer.

On her part Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang also assured that the Government would soon complete and operationalise Anomabo Fisheries College.

Nana Essuman Ababio I, Chief of Aburanamoa, where the Anomabo Fisheries College is cited, appealed to the President Mahama to ensure the completion and operationalisation of the College and appealed to the Government to rename the Facility either as Aburanamoa Fisheries College or Anomabo-Aburanamoa Fisheries College.
