Ho, June 24, GNA – Madam Elikplim Afua Klu, the Volta Regional President of the Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations (GFD), has underscored the necessity of collaborative efforts in the pursuit of inclusivity.

She urged all stakeholders, including the government, civil society, the private sector, development partners, and every citizen, to recommit creating a Ghana where no one is marginalised and where disability rights are acknowledged as human rights.

Madam Klu said this in a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency in commemoration of this year’s National Day of Persons with Disabilities.

This year’s event is celebrated under the theme: “From Act to Action: Finalising Reforms and Enforcing Disability Rights Now and Beyond.”

Madam Klu stated that accessible infrastructure, inclusive education, economic opportunities, social safety, and the meaningful engagement of those with disabilities in decision-making must transform from ambitions into tangible realities.

She additionally urged for intensified advocacy for equitable legislation, the cultivation of inclusive communities, and the adaptation of daily behaviours to guarantee that every individual feels valued, supported, and acknowledged.

The GFD President emphasised that achieving genuine inclusivity necessitates deliberate, collaborative efforts to dismantle systemic obstacles.

She said as the nation commemorates two decades of the Disability Act, it must transcend mere promises and guarantee the comprehensive protection, implementation, and enforcement of the rights of individuals with disabilities.
