Peace Council commends EC for peaceful polls

Sefwi-Wiawso (WN/R), Dec. 13, GNA – The Western North Regional branch of the National Peace Council has commended the Electoral Commission (EC) and major stakeholders in ensuring peaceful elections within the region.

According to the council, the election was peaceful across the region as voters exercised their civic responsibilities in a calm and orderly manner, despite the few instances of arguments, misunderstanding and tensions which were swiftly managed to ensure the integrity of the process.

In a statement issued and signed by Most Reverend Samuel Nkuah Boateng, Regional chairperson of the council and copied to the Ghana News Agency emphasized that the collation of results across the region was carried out in a transparent and peaceful manner, which further underscored the maturity of major stakeholders involved in the electoral process.

“Post election activities, including the announcement of results and celebrations, were also remarkably peaceful,” the statement stressed.

The statement further commended the professionalism and diligence of the Regional and district officers of the Electoral Commission, security agencies and political parties in ensuring a smooth electoral process.

“Your collective efforts have reinforced the credibility of this democratic exercise in the Region,” the statement said.

The statement also entreated residents to remain united and committed to fostering peace and development in the Western North Region and the Nation at large and prayed for a seamless transition.
