Koforidua, Oct. 4, GNA – Mr Fohad Agbenyadzi, Eastern Regional Deputy Youth Organiser, National Democratic Congress, has declared his intention to contest the Deputy National Youth Organiser position and proposed income-generating ventures to cut the youth wing’s reliance on financiers.
He made the declaration in Koforidua during an engagement with youth and deputy youth organisers from across the Eastern Region, where he outlined his vision of reducing the youth wing’s dependence on individual financiers and building sustainable internal sources of funding.
Mr Agbenyadzi proposed the establishment of “Youth Wing in Ghana Limited” to undertake legitimate commercial activities through competitive tendering and project execution, with part of the proceeds used to finance party activities.
He stated the initiative would enable the party to mobilise its own resources rather than depend heavily on financiers whose support could later come with demands for appointments and contracts.
He also proposed the establishment of a youth insurance company to provide welfare support to youth organisers, including life insurance and assistance with medical expenses arising from accidents.
He noted that encouraging party members to patronise the company’s services would generate additional resources to support the youth wing.
Mr Agbenyadzi said strengthening the welfare and financial capacity of constituency-level youth organisers was essential to building a stronger grassroots base.
“When you have youth organisers who are broke at the constituency level, there is no way they can give you good results,” he added, stressing the need to adequately resource them to improve their effectiveness.
He further assured NDC youth that the party’s new leadership would engage government appointees to address the concerns and expectations of members.
While acknowledging the challenges inherited from the previous administration, he expressed confidence that conditions would improve under the new leadership and pledged that “things will never be the same.”
