Spiritual maturity is built through service and perseverance – Minister

Ashaiman, Oct. 04, GNA — Minister Richard B. Boadu of the Church of Christ Lebanon has emphasised that spiritual maturity is not automatic but a deliberate process cultivated through active service and steadfast perseverance.

Speaking on the theme “Maturity Through Service and Perseverance”, during a church service, Minister Boadu said a believer’s spiritual growth could not be measured merely by age, years spent in church or basic biblical knowledge.

He said genuine spiritual maturity was reflected in character development, wisdom, responsibility, faith and obedience.

Drawing lessons from Ephesians 4:11–16 and James 1:2–4, he said church responsibilities were intended to equip believers to contribute to the growth and strengthening of the body of Christ.

Using the Akan proverb, “Nsa baako nkura adesoa”, to wit, “One hand cannot carry a heavy load”, Minister Boadu urged Christians to shift their focus from asking what they could gain to considering how they could contribute and support others.

He stressed that service should produce Christlike character and humility rather than become a means of seeking applause or recognition.

Addressing life’s inevitable hardships, he said trials could test believers’ faith, while perseverance enabled them to remain faithful during difficult moments.

“Do not allow hardship to make you bitter; allow it to make you stronger. Do not allow correction to make you angry; allow it to make you wiser,” he advised.

He called on children, new converts, parents and long-serving Christians to allow their spiritual growth to manifest positively in all spheres of life, including the home, school, workplace and wider community.
