Mankranso (Ash) Sept. 25, GNA – The NDC government will remain loyal and committed to the development and progress of the Ahafo-Ano South West District of the Ashanti region.
Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, who stated this, said the government recognized the dedication and the significant role the late District Chief Executive (DCE) Mr Abubakar Sedik, was playing to bring development to the area and the government would work to ensure the sustenance of the late DCE’s development legacy.
Speaking to the family, chiefs and the people of the district after the sudden death of the DCE, Dr Amoakohene, praised the late DCE for dedicating his life to public service to improve the living conditions of his people.
He pointed out that, the dream of the late DCE should not be allowed to die with him and that, the government remained loyal and committed to the district since his passing challenges the government to do even more.
“One of the most meaningful ways we can honour his memory is to ensure that the development aspirations he carried in his heart continue to receive attention” the Minister stated, and called for unity and understanding since the late DCE dedicated himself to peaceful coexistence.
He urged the people to remember that life was too precious and too short for hatred, bitterness and unnecessary division and should therefore, let the demise give them strength to forgive, to reconcile and to work together for the betterment of the district, mother Ghana and humanity.
“Everyone may tell their own version of what happened and what led to what.
People will have their interpretations and perspectives but ultimately, God is faithful”, he noted.
According to Dr Amoakohene, during death moments in life at the community level, words struggle to adequately express the depth of grief since relatives, friends and sympathizers gather not because they expected it but because they have been confronted with the painful reality of the sudden passing of a dear one.
The late Mr. Sedik served two terms as a Constituency Chairman and 2024 NDC Parliamentary Candidate (PC) before his last appointment as the DCE for the area.
He unfortunately passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2026 on admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, after a short illness.
He was suddenly taken ill when returning from a meeting with Mr. Mahama Ayariga, the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs together with other DCEs in the Ashanti region.
He had earlier on led the staff of the Assembly to attend the funeral rites of two other members of staff, who had lost their mother at Mankranso on the previous Saturday.
