Aflao (V/R), Sept. 25, GNA – Mr Bright Solomon Kumordzie, Ghana’s Deputy High Commissioner to Togo, has urged aspirants in the upcoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency elections, to focus their campaigns on issues and ideas that promote party unity and development.
He advised aspirants seeking various positions in the Ketu South Constituency to avoid hate speech, personal attacks and character assassination of opponents, saying their campaign messages should outline what they could do to strengthen the party.
Mr Kumordzie said Ketu South had traditionally been an important constituency for the NDC and therefore required leaders capable of bringing members together and working towards increasing support for the party.
He made the call while reflecting on his experience as a former constituency chairman, a position he held for eight years before his appointment as Deputy High Commissioner.
Mr Kumordzie said his experience in party leadership had taught him that hard work, unity and constructive engagement were important to building a strong organisation.
He recalled that during his campaign for the chairmanship position, some people made allegations against him, but delegates ultimately assessed the candidates and made their choice.
“They said so many untrue stories about me, but when the time came, delegates saw something good in me and decided to vote for me,” he said.
Mr Kumordzie said the experience reinforced his belief that aspirants should concentrate on presenting their vision and plans for the development of the party rather than attacking opponents.
“As I am stepping aside for a new leadership to take over, I would like to caution all aspirants against hate speech and messages that will not be in the interest of party building,” he said.
He also urged delegates to consider campaign messages centered on peace, development, and togetherness when making their choices.
The NDC has scheduled its 2026 constituency elections for Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25, 2026, at designated venues within the various constituencies.
