Asukawkaw (O/R), July 12, GNA – Delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Krachi East Constituency turned out in their numbers on Saturday to elect new constituency executives despite a steady rainfall.

The election, held at the Asukawkaw Senior High School campus in the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region, attracted delegates from the various electoral areas, many of whom arrived early to participate in the party’s internal democratic process.

Officials of the Electoral Commission (EC), engaged by the party to conduct the election, arrived at the venue before dawn to prepare the polling station and electoral materials ahead of the start of voting.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Kafui Klotse, Krachi East Municipal Director of the EC, said all the required electoral materials had been received and officials were fully prepared to conduct a smooth, transparent and credible election despite the weather.

He expressed confidence that the rainfall would not affect the exercise.

A visit by the GNA to the polling centre showed aspirants and their supporters interacting with delegates and making final appeals for votes despite the rain.

Campaign posters and flyers were displayed around the venue, while delegates queued patiently for verification before casting their ballots.

Party officials commended delegates for their commitment and discipline, describing the turnout as a demonstration of grassroots confidence in the party’s internal democratic processes.

They expressed optimism that the election would strengthen the constituency’s leadership and promote unity as the party prepared for future political activities.

Security personnel were deployed to maintain law and order, while election officials ensured that voting was conducted in accordance with established procedures.

Some delegates who spoke to the GNA expressed satisfaction with the peaceful atmosphere and organisation of the exercise. They urged all aspirants and their supporters to accept the outcome in good faith and work together in the interest of the party.
