Akyem Tafo (E/R), July 4, GNA – MTN Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to preserving Ghana’s cultural heritage and strengthening community partnerships with a donation of GH¢20,000 and airtime worth GH¢1,000 to support the 2026 Ohum Festival at Akyem Tafo.

The presentation, which also included a hamper of assorted beverages, was made at the Akyem Tafo Awansa Palace.

Mr Ransford Gyan, Area Sales Manager for the Eastern, Volta and Oti Regions of MTN Ghana, said the donation reflected the company’s appreciation to Daasebre Adusei Peasah IV, Chief of Akyem Tafo, and his people for their longstanding loyalty and partnership with the MTN brand.

“We have seen how deeply the Ohum Festival reflects the identity, heritage and aspirations of the Tafo people, and we are proud to be associated with a celebration that continues to preserve culture while opening new doors of opportunity,” Mr Gyan said.

He said MTN recognised the important role of traditional festivals in promoting cultural identity, social cohesion, and local development.

As part of activities marking the festival, Mr Gyan indicated that MTN would establish customer experience centres at strategic locations across Akyem Tafo to bring its products and services closer to residents and visitors.

“Our team will be available to provide enhanced customer experience to the people. We remain committed to delivering excellent service and making our products and services more accessible to the communities we serve,” he said.

Mr Gyan noted that the presentation coincided with MTN Ghana’s 30th anniversary celebration under the theme, “30 Years of Progress, Powered by You.”

“For three decades, we have been more than a telecommunications company. We have been a partner in progress, enabling lives, supporting businesses and contributing our quota to national development,” he said.

Receiving the donation, Daasebre Peasah IV expressed appreciation to MTN Ghana for its consistent support of the Ohum Festival and prayed for the company’s continued growth and success.

The Ohum Festival is celebrated annually to give thanks to God and the ancestors for their protection, to mark the first yam harvest, and to cleanse the royal stools.

In a related development, MTN Ghana presented GH¢30,000, airtime worth GH¢2,000 and a hamper of assorted drinks to Ofori Panin Fie, the official palace of the Okyenhene at Kyebi, also in support of the 2026 Ohum Festival.

The presentation formed part of the company’s continued support for traditional institutions and cultural celebrations that promote community identity and national heritage.
