Morkwa (C/R), July 03, GNA – The Assistant Headteacher of Morkwa Senior High School in the Twifo Atti -Morkwa District of the Central Region, Mr Eric Pesu, has appealed to the government, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and other stakeholders to provide urgent support to improve infrastructure at the school.
According to Mr Pesu, the school was facing serious infrastructure challenges, affecting teaching and learning.
He mentioned the lack of adequate classroom blocks, boys’ and girls’ dormitories, a dining hall, an administration block, and other essential educational facilities.
Mr Pesu further explained that the current situation had forced all students in SHS One, Two, and Three to share a single eight-unit classroom block, resulting in overcrowding and making effective teaching and learning difficult.
The inadequate infrastructure was negatively affecting students’ academic performance, noted during the observation of the ‘Tree for Life’ Initiative at the school.
Some students who spoke to the GNA confirmed the challenges highlighted by the Assistant Headteacher and described the difficulties they faced as ‘depressing’ and appealed for immediate intervention.
Dunkwa District Forest Range Manager, Mr Fordjour Asare, warned the public against engaging in illegal activities within forest reserves.
He stressed that anyone arrested for illegal logging or other unlawful activities in protected forests would be prosecuted.
He urged Ghanaian to protect the country’s forests and refrain from indiscriminate tree felling.
Twifo Atti -Morkwa District Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Mr James Prah, used the occasion to appeal for logistical support to improve the operations of the district office.
He said his office urgently needed vehicles, motorbikes, and other equipment to enable staff to respond effectively to emergencies.
