Accra, July 13, GNA – The Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs (MLGCRA) has expressed gratitude to Ghanaians for the successful completion of the two-day National General Cleaning Exercise, describing the nationwide participation as a demonstration of unity and collective responsibility.
In a statement issued after the exercise, the Ministry said the success of the initiative was a powerful reminder of what could be achieved when unity prevailed behind a common purpose.
The Ministry extended its appreciation to Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies, traditional authorities, religious bodies, volunteer groups, organised institutions, corporate organisations, government agencies, and development partners.
It also extended its appreciation to the media, security services, sanitation workers, community leaders and all Ghanaians who responded to President John Dramani Mahama’s call to action.
The statement said the commitment, sacrifice, and patriotism displayed by participants had helped restore hope, protect public health and reinforce the country’s shared responsibility to maintain clean communities.
The Ministry, however, stressed that although the two-day nationwide exercise had officially ended, clean-up and recovery operations would continue in partnership with stakeholders until all affected communities had been fully restored.
It urged the public to sustain the momentum, noting that environmental cleanliness should not be viewed as a two-day exercise but as a shared responsibility and a way of life.
“Every effort, no matter how small, contributes to building the Ghana we all want,” the statement added.
It stressed that the Ministry remained committed to working with all stakeholders to build a cleaner, healthier, and more resilient country.
