Dambai (O/R), Aug. 24, GNA – The Ghana National Association of the Deaf (GNAD) has commended the Nkwanta North District Assembly for its support and commitment to improving the welfare of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the district.
Mr Matthew Kubachua, President of GNAD, made the commendation during a courtesy call on Mr Isaiah Kudjoe Dordoe, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Nkwanta North, and Mr Samuel Gyamina, the District Coordinating Director.
He said the visit was to express appreciation to the Assembly for its continued assistance to PWDs and to acknowledge its efforts in promoting their welfare, inclusion and empowerment, particularly among members of the deaf community.
The GNAD President praised Mr Dordoe and the Assembly for their dedication to improving the livelihoods of PWDs and enhancing their participation in social and economic activities.
As a gesture of appreciation, he presented a citation of honour to the DCE in recognition of his commitment to advancing the wellbeing of PWDs in the district.
The citation also acknowledged the Assembly’s efforts to ensure that PWDs received the necessary support and opportunities to participate meaningfully in community development and economic activities.
Receiving the citation, Mr Dordoe expressed gratitude to GNAD for the recognition, describing the gesture as encouraging and motivating.
He assured the association that the Assembly would continue to ensure that funds allocated to PWDs through the District Assemblies Common Fund were used for their intended purposes and beneficiaries.
Mr Dordoe said the Assembly remained committed to building an inclusive society where PWDs had equal access to support services, skills development opportunities and programmes that would enable them to contribute meaningfully to national development.
He called for strengthened collaboration between the Assembly, GNAD and other stakeholders to address challenges confronting PWDs and promote their full participation in community life.
