Akatsi (VR), July 20, GNA – The Sogakope Area of the Church of Pentecost (COP) has presented working tools and financial support to 61 members to enhance their livelihoods and promote self-reliance.
The beneficiaries received sewing machines, hair dryers, toolboxes, make-up kits, a pumping machine, weedicides and other work equipment, while some also received cash support to further their education and apprenticeship training.
Apostle Edward Brains Agidi-Quarshie, the Area Head of the Church, said the intervention formed part of the Church’s commitment to addressing the socio-economic needs of its members through practical empowerment initiatives.
He said the Church believed in equipping people with the means to earn sustainable livelihoods rather than providing temporary relief.
Apostle Agidi-Quarshie explained that the initiative was aimed at improving the economic well-being of beneficiaries while enabling them to contribute meaningfully to society.
He disclosed that he and his wife, Mrs Cynthia Fosuaa Agidi-Quarshie, together with pastors and their wives in the Area, donated 13 sewing machines towards the exercise.
He said the remaining items were mobilised from the various districts within the Area through the support of members.
Pastor Reindorf Abiah, the Area Pentecost Social Services (PENTSOS) Coordinator, disclosed to the Ghana News Agency that the items were presented to the beneficiaries during the half-year Area Presbytery Meeting held at the Sogakope Central Church Auditorium on Saturday.
He urged the beneficiaries to remain diligent, disciplined and professional in their respective trades to generate sustainable income, improve their livelihoods and bring glory to God through their work.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Church for the timely intervention and pledged to make good use of the items to expand their businesses and become self-reliant.
The Church of Pentecost has, over the years, played a significant role in Ghana’s national development through its social intervention programmes in education, healthcare, water and sanitation, skills development, environmental sustainability and economic empowerment.
Through the Pentecost Social Services (PENTSOS), the Church continues to complement government efforts by implementing initiatives that improve the living conditions of vulnerable persons, create sustainable livelihoods and promote community development across the country.
