Accra, Oct. 2, GNA – Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, Senior Partner at Sarkodie, Baffour Awuah and Partners, and Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South, has surrendered himself to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to assist with ongoing investigations.
The investigations concerned allegations of criminal conspiracy, financial loss to SIC Savings and Loans, money laundering, tax-related offences, and other matters, a statement from the EOCO said.
It said Nana Baffour Awuah voluntarily reported to its premises at about 1000 hours on Thursday, following several months of efforts by the Office to secure his attendance before investigators.
EOCO subsequently commenced the applicable investigative and operational procedures in respect of Nana Baffour Awuah, the statement said.
He was subsequently placed under arrest and was cooperating with investigators as the process continued, it added.
The statement assured the public that the investigations would be conducted professionally, independently and in accordance with due process.
It would also continue to pursue all relevant lines of inquiry and examine the available evidence.
The statement said all persons involved in the investigations would be afforded their rights under the Constitution and applicable laws.
It urged the public to allow the investigative and judicial processes to proceed without speculation or premature conclusions regarding the culpability of any individual.
EOCO assured the public that it would provide further information when appropriate and legally permissible.
