Accra, Oct. 1, GNA – The National Commission on Culture (NCC) and the National Film Authority (NFA) are set to strengthen collaboration to promote film education, screenings and other film-related activities across Ghana’s regions.
Mr Wakefield Ackuaku, Executive Director of the NCC, said the Commission was ready to support the partnership by making its auditoriums at the Regional Centres for National Culture available as platforms for film-related programmes.
He said the initiative would provide opportunities for filmmakers, young creatives, audiences and other stakeholders to engage with Ghana’s film industry while promoting the country’s rich cultural heritage and stories.
Mr Ackuaku made this observation, when he joined Madam Kafui Danku, Executive Secretary of the NFA, on an inspection tour of the auditorium facilities at the Greater Accra Regional Centre for National Culture.
“The Commission is ready to open its doors. Our auditoriums across the country are national assets, and this partnership will ensure they are put to effective use to promote Ghanaian film and culture,” he said.
Under the proposed collaboration, the NFA would utilise the auditoriums at the Regional Centres for National Culture for film workshops, screenings and other related activities.
Madam Danku said the NFA was committed to working with the NCC to bring film activities closer to communities across the regions.
She said the collaboration would help create platforms for film education, talent development and cultural expression while providing opportunities for communities to experience and engage with Ghanaian films.
The inspection tour, which commenced at the Accra Arts Centre, is expected to continue at the various Regional Centres for National Culture to assess the condition and suitability of the facilities ahead of the rollout of the proposed joint activities.
The partnership is expected to strengthen institutional collaboration between the two bodies and provide additional platforms for filmmakers and emerging talents to showcase their work.
It would also support efforts to promote Ghanaian stories and cultural heritage through film while expanding access to film education and related activities beyond Accra.
