ACCRA, June 24, GNA – Madam Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, Member of Parliament (MP) for the La Dade-Kotopon Constituency, has disclosed that construction and rehabilitation works on inner roads within the constituency will commence before the end of 2026.

Madam Sowah, who is also the Deputy Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, made the announcement during a tour of selected electoral areas in the constituency to assess ongoing community development projects.

She said although many people believed that all roads within La Dade-Kotopon had been developed, several inner roads still require urgent attention to improve accessibility and the living conditions of residents.

The MP revealed that she had engaged the Minister for Roads and Highways on the reconstruction of the La inner roads and expressed confidence that work would commence soon.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Madam Sowah noted that the ongoing construction of the La Beach Road, demonstrated the government’s commitment to improving road infrastructure in the area.

She said the project, which residents had consistently advocated for, was nearing completion and had already contributed significantly to easing traffic congestion along the stretch.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to completing the long-delayed La General Hospital project, which she described as a major priority for both the government and the people of La.

Madam Sowah said
President John Dramani Mahama recently visited the project site and assured contractors that payment certificates would be honoured promptly to prevent delays in execution.

According to her, the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2027 and will provide quality healthcare services to residents of La Dade-Kotopon and surrounding communities.

Madam Sowah, who engaged residents during the tour as part of efforts to improve infrastructure and public services within the constituency, said she would continue to collaborate with authorities to ensure the timely development of the area.

The focus on “inner roads” addresses a persistent urban challenge.

While major arteries in Accra are often prioritised, feeder and residential roads determine last-mile access to homes, clinics and schools.

Their condition directly affects flooding, transport costs and emergency response times in densely populated areas like La.
