By Frank Kwame Abbor

Accra, June 11, GNA – Thirty students and six teachers from five second-cycle schools in the Ho West Constituency have participated in an educational tour of the Russian House in Accra to enhance their knowledge in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

The educational visit, held on Monday, formed part of a special programme initiated by Mr Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, Member of Parliament for Ho West Constituency, in collaboration with the Russian House, to provide students with additional learning opportunities.

The participating schools were Awudome Senior High School, Dzolo Senior High School, Kpedze Senior High School, Abutia Senior High Technical School, and Tsito Senior High Technical School.

The programme focused on exposing students to practical and advanced learning experiences in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, and the Russian language, while broadening their academic and career prospects.

Mr Bedzrah, who joined the students and teachers during the visit, commended the participants for their enthusiasm, curiosity, and commitment to learning.

He said investing in education and creating opportunities for students to interact with institutions and programmes beyond the classroom remained essential for national development and the future of the youth.

“I am encouraged by the enthusiasm and dedication of these young learners. Investing in education and exposing our youth to new opportunities remains one of the surest ways to secure a brighter future for Ho West,” he stated.

The students participated in educational sessions, demonstrations, and interactive engagements designed to deepen their understanding of STEM-related subjects and expose them to international educational opportunities.

As part of the excursion, the delegation also toured the Parliament of Ghana, where they learned about the country’s legislative processes, democratic governance, and the role of Parliament in national development.

The students expressed gratitude to the organisers, describing the experience as insightful and inspiring. They said the visit had broadened their understanding of science and technology and motivated them to pursue higher academic goals.

Teachers who accompanied the students also commended Mr Bedzrah for the initiative, noting that exposure to practical learning environments complemented classroom teaching and enhanced students’ appreciation of STEM subjects.

They said such programmes would help reduce some of the challenges teachers face in making abstract concepts easier to understand and appealed for the initiative to be sustained and expanded to benefit more students across the constituency.

Mr Bedzrah expressed appreciation to the management of the Russian House, participating schools, teachers, staff of his office, and all stakeholders whose contributions ensured the success of the educational programme.
