Konongo (Ash), June 16, GNA – The Asante Akim Central Municipal Assembly has outlined key development interventions, revenue mobilisation efforts and expenditure performance undertaken over the past one and a half years as part of measures to promote transparency and accountability in local governance.
Dr. Ebenezer Ekow Aidoo, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), said the Assembly remained committed to prudent management of public resources and ensuring that residents were well informed about government policies, programmes and projects being implemented within the municipality.
Addressing a Town Hall Meeting at Konongo, Dr. Aidoo noted that accountability was a fundamental requirement of good governance and that public officials had a responsibility to periodically report back to the people on the use of public funds and the progress of development initiatives.
He said the engagement provided an opportunity for residents to interact directly with Assembly officials, seek clarification on issues of concern, and contribute ideas towards the development of the municipality.
Dr. Aidoo explained that, since assuming office, the Assembly had prioritised interventions in education, healthcare delivery, infrastructure development, social services and local economic growth to improve the living standards of residents.
He said the Assembly continued to implement programmes and projects aimed at addressing the developmental needs of communities despite financial constraints and other operational challenges.
The MCE assured residents that the Assembly would continue to uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness in the discharge of its mandate.

Officials from the Municipal Planning and Budget Units took participants through detailed presentations on the Assembly’s revenue performance, expenditure patterns and development projects executed within the period under review.
They indicated that the Assembly had intensified efforts to improve internally generated revenue through enhanced monitoring, stakeholder engagement, and the strengthening of revenue collection mechanisms.
The officials also highlighted challenges affecting revenue mobilisation, including inadequate logistics, non-compliance by some ratepayers and limited revenue sources.
They said funds generated and allocations received from central government had been utilised to support projects and programmes in education, health, sanitation, road infrastructure, and community development.
The presentations further provided updates on ongoing and completed projects across the municipality, with officials assuring residents that available resources were being applied judiciously to address priority development needs.
Participants were given the opportunity to ask questions and seek further clarification on issues relating to revenue mobilisation, expenditure management, and project implementation.
The meeting formed part of efforts by the Assembly to deepen citizen participation in local governance and strengthen public confidence in the management of municipal affairs.
