WESTECH Headmaster Appeals for Infrastructure Support During Courtesy Call on MCE

By Michael Foli Jackidy

Dzodze (V/R), May 06, GNA – Mr Hope Semevor, the newly appointed Headmaster of Weta Senior High Technical School (WESTECH), has paid a courtesy call on Rev Martin Amenaki, Ketu North Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), to officially introduce himself and present some pressing challenges confronting the school.

Mr Semevor, accompanied by some members of staff, said the visit was to formally acquaint himself with the Municipal Chief Executive and seek the Assembly’s support to address key infrastructure deficits affecting teaching and learning in the school.

He said although the school continued to play a critical role in second-cycle education within the Weta Zone, inadequate infrastructure remained a major challenge.

Mr Semevor noted that the school faced serious deficits in classroom accommodation and furniture, which continued to place pressure on both students and staff.

He said the increasing student population required urgent expansion of infrastructure to create a more conducive environment for effective teaching and learning.

“The school needs urgent infrastructure support, especially in the area of classrooms and furniture, to improve teaching and learning outcomes,” he said.

Mr Semevor explained that as the only second-cycle institution serving the Weta Zone in the Ketu North Municipality, WESTECH occupies a strategic position in the educational development of the area and requires sustained investment to meet growing demands.

He expressed optimism that with the support of the Municipal Assembly and other stakeholders, the school would be better positioned to deliver quality technical and secondary education to students in the zone.

Reverend Martin Amenaki, Ketu North Municipal Chief Executive, welcomed the new Headmaster and assured him of the Assembly’s commitment to the development of the school.

He said the Assembly, in collaboration with the Member of Parliament (MP), Mr Eric Edem Agbana, had already outlined plans to support the growth and expansion of the school.

Rev Amenaki noted that WESTECH remains a strategic educational institution in the municipality and would not be neglected in the Assembly’s development agenda.

“As the only second-cycle institution in the Weta Zone, we cannot afford to neglect the school. There is a big plan by the Assembly and the MP for its development,” he said.

He added that just as other educational zones in the municipality were benefiting from development interventions, the Weta Zone remains a priority area for major educational investment.

Rev Amenaki assured management of the school that the Assembly would work closely with the MP to ensure significant infrastructure development at the school to improve academic delivery and student welfare.

He said the Municipal Assembly remains committed to supporting educational institutions across the municipality to ensure equitable access to quality education and improved learning outcomes.
