Accra, May 12, GNA – The Pan-African Parliament (PAP) has urged its members to prioritise the interests of African citizens and unite behind the aspirations of Agenda 2063.

Mr Fateh Boutbig, President of the PAP, made the call during a joint meeting of the Parliament Bureau and the Bureaux of the Regional Caucuses, convened to coordinate the distribution of roles and positions within the leadership structures of the Permanent Committees.

He sensitised the leadership of the Regional Caucuses on the importance of deploying appropriate skills and expertise to the Committees to enhance efficiency and ensure that the institution’s collective efforts are directed toward a shared vision.

The Permanent Committees, which constitute the operational engine of the Parliament, were established to provide in-depth analysis of topical and emerging issues affecting the African continent.

Members are designated to the Committees by the five Regional Caucuses, including newly designated Members who have successfully undergone the verification process conducted by the Committee on Rules, Discipline and Privileges to ensure compliance with procedures and conditions set by their respective National Parliaments.

The Pan-African Parliament currently has eleven Permanent Committees whose mandates are aligned with the portfolios of the African Union Commission.

Agenda 2063 is the continent’s 50-year roadmap for building a future defined by growth, resilience, and collective advancement under the ideals of Pan-Africanism and the African Renaissance.

It provides a strategic framework for inclusive and sustainable development, reflecting the pan-African vision of unity, self-determination, freedom, progress, and shared prosperity.
