Kadjebi (O/R), May 22, GNA – Mr Richard Akrasi, Akan Constituency Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged party faithful to take keen interest in filing nominations for the upcoming branch elections to help strengthen the party’s grassroots structures.
He said branch elections remained the foundation upon which the party’s organisational strength and electoral fortunes were built and therefore required the active participation of committed members.
Mr Akrasi, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the online nomination filing process, currently ongoing, would end on May 25, and advised all interested members to complete their applications before the deadline.
He noted that branch executives played critical roles in mobilising support for the party, educating members on party policies, and coordinating activities at the community level.
“The branch executives are the engine of the party at the grassroots. Their dedication and commitment determine how strong the party becomes ahead of every national election,” he stated.
Mr Akrasi encouraged the youth, women, and experienced party members to take advantage of the opportunity to contest various positions in order to bring innovation, unity, and effective leadership to the party’s local structures.
He said the elections should not be viewed as a competition among individuals, but rather as a collective effort to strengthen the NDC and prepare it for future political activities and national development.
The Communications Officer further appealed to aspirants and supporters to conduct their campaigns peacefully and avoid acts that could create division within the party.
He urged members to uphold discipline, unity, and respect for the party’s constitution throughout the electioneering process.
Mr Akrasi expressed optimism that a successful branch election would position the party strongly at the constituency, regional, and national levels.
He reiterated that all interested aspirants should use the approved online platform to file their nominations before the closing date.
The NDC opened branch election nominations for all 40,647 branches across 276 constituencies nationwide from May 2 to May 16, but the deadline has now been extended to May 25.
