Dzodze (V/R), Aug. 29, GNA – The Ketu North Municipal Assembly has commenced the drilling of 10 boreholes across the municipality to improve access to potable water in beneficiary communities.
The exercise, which began this week and is expected to continue next week, forms part of the Assembly’s efforts to address the water challenges confronting communities that have struggled over the years to access clean and safe drinking water.
Reverend Martin Amenaki, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), visited Kasu, one of the beneficiary communities, where drilling works are underway.
He interacted with traditional authorities, opinion leaders, women, youth and residents during the visit.
The commencement of the project was met with excitement, as residents expressed gratitude to the Assembly and Government for responding to their long-standing water concerns.
They noted that access to a reliable source of potable water would reduce the burden associated with searching for water and contribute to improved sanitation, better health outcomes, and enhanced living conditions.
Rev Amenaki said the project demonstrated the Assembly’s commitment to addressing the needs of residents through responsive leadership.
“This is what leadership is about – listening to the people and responding to their needs,” he said.
He explained that the drilling of the 10 boreholes formed part of broader interventions aimed at expanding access to clean and safe water throughout the municipality.
The MCE announced that several other communities had been identified for similar support and reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to ensuring equitable access to potable water.
He commended the technical team undertaking the project for their dedication and urged beneficiary communities to take ownership of the facilities and ensure their proper maintenance upon completion.
Rev Amenaki reiterated the Assembly’s resolve to improve the welfare of residents through the provision of essential social infrastructure.
“We are focused, we are committed, and we are delivering. Together, we are building the Ketu North we all want,” he said.
